Police in Kelowna found fentanyl and methamphetamine on a man who they arrested after spotting him in a stolen truck.

The Kelowna RCMP Target Team was conducting proactive enforcement around 11 p.m. on Oct. 7, when they noticed a black Dodge Ram pickup truck, according to an RCMP media release. The truck was reported stolen earlier that day after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Lake Country.

As officers were following the pickup, it stopped in the 3000 block of Lakeshore Road in Kelowna, and the driver exited the vehicle. He was then taken into custody without incident.

“Following his arrest, a search of the man located quantities of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine,” Sgt. Desmond Kiehlbauch of Kelowna RCMP Street Enforcement Unit said in the release.

“The man was also allegedly in breach of various orders previously imposed on him by the courts and had outstanding warrants for his arrest out of multiple jurisdictions throughout British Columbia.”

Robin Rochemont, 41, remains in custody. He has been charged with one count of robbery, three counts of of failing to comply with an order, and one count of possession of a scheduled substance.

The investigation is ongoing.
