Suspect arrested in Kelowna stabbing

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing that sent the victim to Kelowna hospital with serious injuries yesterday morning.

RCMP officers were called to a home in 1200 block of Brookside Avenue in Kelowna, March 15, prior to 7:30 a.m., after receiving reports that a man had been assaulted with an edged weapon, according an RCMP media release.

The victim was transported to Kelowna General Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Police officers arrested a 36-year-old man in relation to the incident a short time later. The man has been released on conditions for a future court date.

The RCMP's findings during its investigation will be submitted to the B.C. Prosecution Service for review.

Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, media liaison with the Kelowna RCMP, said officers are confident there is no risk to the public as a result of this incident.

The RCMP is not releasing additional information at this time and is encouraging anyone with information on the incident to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
