Suspect arrested in Kamloops with weapons, drugs

Kamloops RCMP has made arrests related to an ongoing investigation into weapons and threats.

RCMP received a report on Friday, Oct. 27, that a man with weapons was making threats in the Barnhartvale area, according to a press release from Oct. 30.

Police got a search warrant and called in the Southeast District Emergency Response Team because the suspect was allegedly armed.

“In recognition of the reported presence of weapons inside the residence and the subsequent safety risk presented, the (emergency response team) was deployed to help gain entry,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “The suspect was not located inside, but was arrested nearby soon after, without incident."

Police seized drugs and weapons found in the home.

The Forensic Identification Services Unit is part of the ongoing investigation.

The suspect was released with conditions and a court date. A second man who was with the suspect was also taken into custody because of a separate warrant for his arrest.

Anyone who has information that may be related is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-38696.
