Suspect armed with a handgun holds up clerk at Kelowna store

Kelowna RCMP are looking for an armed robbery suspect who fled after holding up a business in the Glenmore neighbourhood early this morning

Police were called just before 5 a.m. today, July 21, when a man brandished a handgun during the robbery at a business in the 1000 block of Glenmore Drive, according to an RCMP news release. RCMP don't identify the business. The Circle K convenience store is at 1014 Glenmore Drive and is open 24/7.

RCMP didn't say if anyone was hurt during the robbery.

Police didn't say what was stolen from the store, but did say officers and police dogs flooded the area and were unable to find the man.

He's described as having a slim build and brown hair. He was wearing a black mask, blue jacket and a Reebok hoodie.

Kelowna RCMP said the hoodie was blue on its top and black on the bottom, and he was also wearing grey jogger-style pants and grey running shoes.

“The Kelowna RCMP expresses deep concern for the safety of our community and would like to assure the public that we are actively searching for the suspect," Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release.
