Two missing BC children were last seen in Merritt more than a week before police issued an Amber Alert.

Joshuah, 10, and Aurora Bolton, 8, were spotted on gas station surveillance footage from July 7, ten days before they were supposed to be returned to their father in Surrey, according to RCMP.

Surrey RCMP issued an Amber Alert on July 19, asking the public to help find the children and their mother Verity Bolton.

Bolton was last seen grocery shopping in Kamloops on July 15, but she wasn't accompanied by anyone, including the children.

Police now say she may be travelling with her father, 74-year-old Robert Bolton, and her boyfriend, 53-year-old Abraxas Glazov.

Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is working with other detachments, including Kamloops RCMP.

Police issue Amber Alerts when a search meets multiple criteria, including when they believe a victim has been abducted and is in imminent danger.

Surrey RCMP haven't, however, described the danger they believe the children are in.

The children's family asked for privacy, but issued a statement through Surrey RCMP, according to a news release.

“Our family would like to thank the RCMP for their ceaseless efforts as well as the public, who are sharing the Amber Alert and have been calling in with tips. Our entire family is devastated by recent events. We ask everyone if they could continue to be vigilant in looking for Josh and Aurora, who we miss greatly and hope they will be returned home safe very soon. Our family is respectfully asking for privacy at this time," the statement reads.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Aurora and Joshuah is asked to call 911.
