Dispute between two groups of youths in Surrey, B.C. ends with one teen stabbed

SURREY, B.C. - A teenager in Surrey, B.C., is recovering from a stab wound while police search for a second youth suspected in the attack.

Surrey RCMP say the 16-year-old was stabbed at around 8 p.m. Monday in an area near the Fleetwood neighbourhood.

The youth is recovering in hospital from what police describe as non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say it appears the attack occurred during a dispute between two groups of young people who are known to each other.

The suspect and several other teens had fled by the time officers arrived.

Police spent Monday night speaking to witnesses and canvassing the area for possible video surveillance.
