Sunshine and warm weather coming to the Okanagan, but not this weekend

There should be good pool weather in the Okanagan today, June 25, but a system approaching the valley tomorrow is expected to bring a showery, cool weekend to the valley.

It looks like Okanagan residents can look forward to more sunshine and seasonable temperatures over the next few days – just not over the weekend.

The last six days of June should see mostly seasonal temperatures with the sun peeking out for a majority of those days.

Unfortunately, a system approaching tomorrow, June 26, is expected to bring clouds and showers to finish off the last weekend in June before the sun returns Monday.

July 1 looks like it will be a pleasant day for Canada Day virtual celebrations with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 25 Celsius.

Today in the Okanagan, Environment Canada says it should be mainly sunny with northwest winds at 20 km/h late this afternoon.

Today’s high should reach 30 C in Vernon and Kelowna, 29 C in Penticton with a low in all three cities tonight of 15 C.

On Friday, Vernon should see a 30 per cent chance of showers with a high of 27 C.  Winds are expected to become southwest at 30 km/h late in the afternoon.

Kelowna should see a mix of sun and cloud on Friday with a high of 29 C. Winds are expected to become southwest at 30 km/h in the afternoon, with a 30 per cent chance of showers overnight and a low to 14 C.

Penticton can expect increasing clouds with winds becoming north at 20 km/h in the afternoon. The Peach City should reach a high of 29 C.

Friday night there is a 30 per cent chance of showers and a low of 14 C expected.

All three cities can expect clouds and showers on Saturday, with a high of 21 C.

Sunday there is a 60 per cent chance of showers continuing, with a high of 20 C, but skies should clear overnight as the temperature dips to 14 C.

Expect sunny skies Monday with a high of 25 C and a low of 14 C.

A sun and cloud mix is anticipated Tuesday with a high of 26 C.

Overnight, there is a 60 per cent chance of showers along with a low of 15 C.

July gets underway with some pleasant Canada Day weather on Wednesday, July 1, with a forecast calling for sun and cloud and a high of 25 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 25 C and lows of 11 C.
