Sunny, warm weekend ahead for the Okanagan

Maple leaf buds are about to burst into leaf in the South Okanagan. The weather over the next few days should help with spring bloom as Environment Canada expects mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures into next week.

Okanagan residents can look forward to a brief taste of summer this weekend after some clouds and showers tomorrow.

Environment Canada says the sunny skies and high temperature of 16 Celsius today, April 16, will give way to a few clouds tonight along with a low of 4 C in Vernon and Penticton, and 3 C in Kelowna.

Friday there is a 40 per cent chance of showers, accompanied by cloudy skies and a high of 15 C in Vernon and Penticton, and 14 C in Kelowna.

There’s a 70 per cent possibility of showers lingering through the night, but Saturday should break to a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 16 C.

Sunday should see more sun and increasing warmth, with a high of 20 C.

By Monday, Okanagan residents could see a high of 23 C under mostly sunny skies.

They might have a sunny day on Saturday, but with a high reaching only 11 C.

The sunny warm conditions continue in the Okanagan should continue until Tuesday, with a high reaching 21 C.

Midweek clouds and a high of 17 C is forecast for Wednesday.

Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton’s normal high and low is 16 C and 3 C this time of year.
