Sunny and warm weekend forecast for Kamloops this weekend

FILE PHOTO - A cloudy view of the Thompson River. The next couple of days are expected to be cool, cloudy and showery in Kamloops but conditions should improve in time for the weekend.

This week will end on a cool and unsettled note weather-wise in Kamloops before the sun comes out and temperatures begin to rise in time for the weekend.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement today as a weather system moves through southern B.C. bringing showers to the region and up to five centimetres of snow on the Okanagan Connector as the snow level drops to between 1,300 and 1,500 metres tonight, May 21.

The weather to the east of B.C. is expected to be even more volatile as Alberta and Saskatchewan are preparing for thunderstorms and heavy rain, up to 60 millimetres worth, today and tomorrow, according to a Weather Network report. The Alberta foothills could also see some snow.

Environment Canada says Kamloops can expect mainly cloudy skies today with a 40 per cent chance of showers and winds west at 30 km/h. There is a 30 per cent chance of showers heading into this evening and overnight. Today’s high should reach 19 Celsius with a low of 11 C.

Expect to see more clouds and a 30 per cent chance of showers in the morning tomorrow. Winds west at 30 km/h should become light by evening with a high of 16 C and a low of 11 C.

Expect mostly sunny skies on Saturday with a high of 23 C.

Sunday should see a mix of sun and cloud, a high of 24 C and a low of 11 C.

The warming trend continues Monday with cloudy skies and a high of 23 C and a low of 14 C.

Tuesday’s forecast is similar with a high of 24 C under cloudy skies and an overnight low of 11 C.

Wednesday should see more sunshine along with a high of 24 C.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 22 C and lows of 9 C.
