A former Sun Peaks Resort sports instructor has COVID-19.
"We have been made aware of a Sun Peaks Resort employee who recently left the resort to return home and has now tested positive for COVID-19. We feel it is important to share these details as part of our role in community well-being. Please take any necessary precautionary measures you see fit as a result of this information," according to the resort in a statement on its website.
The person was a sports school instructor and lived in staff accommodation at Black Bear Lodge. Their last day of work at the resort was March 16 and they left Sun Peaks March 19 to Australia, according to the statement.
The positive test was confirmed March 24, after they arrived in Australia.
"Our hope is that these details will help you manage your healthcare during this challenging time," the resort said in a statement.
Last week, the Sun Peaks municipality put out a statement on its website saying a local doctor tested positive for the virus.
