While the Central Okanagan was the fastest growing area in the country, Sun Peaks Village easily outpaced it in the speed of growth during the last census period.

Sun Peaks grew 127.9%, reaching a population of 1,404 people for the official May 11, 2021 census date, up from 616 in 2016.

A far distant second was Lake Country with a 22.4% growth rate to 15,817, up from 12,922 in 2016.

The City of Kelowna came third with a growth rate of 13.5%, reaching 144,576 residents. That’s a gain of more than 17,000 people from the 127,390 people living there in 2016.

That’s a slightly lower growth rate than the Kelowna Census Market Area which includes the rest of the Central Okanagan. It grew at 14% to 222,162.
