Summerland residents are going to be without electricity overnight again this weekend.

In order to upgrade electrical utilities, Fortis B.C. has planned another power outage beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, until 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.

The utilities are a transmission system and electrical substation on Giants Head Road near Hillborn Street.

Two planned overnight outages took place in October 2021.

During the first outage there were two separate incidents of thieves attempting to steal trailers. Mailboxes were also broken into that night.

A group of local vigilantes were on patrol during the following week's overnight outage.

Fortis scheduled another overnight outage last April.
