PENTICTON - Oliver has been rocked by another major fire, this time a structure fire to a business.
Following two major wildfires near the town last Friday, August 14, the Oliver Fire Department is fighting another fire this afternoon.
Members of the Oliver Volunteer Fire Department have been fighting a blaze that broke out at Alpha Truss, 36867 97 Street, on the community’s outskirts at approximately 3:45 p.m.
A mutual aid call to Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls was also issued. According to Dale Cadman of Oliver, the business has been burning for approximately an hour, and appears to be entirely engulfed, although he says flames are not as intense as they were earlier.
Highway 97 was closed while firefighers fought the blaze.
It’s not known if there have been any injuries reported in the blaze. Cause is also unknown at this time.
