Stolen first aid cart driven into crowd at Princeton music festival

KELOWNA - Four people were hurt when a man stole a UTV from first aid staff and drove it into the crowd at a Princeton music festival on the long weekend.

On June 30 at 2 a.m. Princeton RCMP received a call from Curiosity Music Festival organizers reporting a man had stolen a medical cart and driven it into several patrons.

Four concert-goers suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries. The man was taken into custody by festival security staff and was subsequently arrested by an RCMP officer.

Police say in a media release the suspect was receiving medical treatment by first aid staff when he assaulted the attendants and stole side-by-side UTV, driving it towards the main stage into the crowd.

The 20-year-old man faces potential robbery and assault charges, RCMP say. Alcohol and/or substance use is believed to have been a factor.
