KAMLOOPS - Stephen George Fraser stabbed his friend Cody Foster to death in a RV unit, a Crown prosecutor said in opening statements to start his second degree murder trial today. But if the Crown has a theory of why he did it, they didn't say.
Stephen George Fraser, born in 1960, faced his jury for the first time this morning, Nov. 28, as the Crown began calling the case against him.
Foster's body was found on Feb. 11, 2017, in the Kamloops RV Park on Dallas Drive. He was 26.
In opening statements, prosecutor Camille Cook, said the knife Fraser used to stab Foster was broken into six pieces. Cook didn't say, and it hasn't been adduced from evidence yet, how Foster and Fraser knew each other.
“The accused was well known to Cody Foster,” Cook said.
Civilians who were also living in the same RV Park who encountered Fraser the evening of the murder will testify what they saw that evening, Cook says.
These witnesses were in a neighbouring trailer when the accused banged on their RV asking for help.
"They found the accused yelling that he needed the police," Cook said.
The civilian witnesses are expected to testify later today. The trial is scheduled for a week and a half.
