CALGARY - A young Canadian cowboy is embarking on an epic journey that will see him riding from Calgary to his birthplace in Brazil.

Filipe Masetti Leite (lay-TAY'), who immigrated to Canada when he was a teenager, intends to spend the next two years riding his two horses through 12 countries in North, Central and South America.

The 16,000 kilometre journey will end in Sao Paolo, Brazil, in 2014.

Leite, who has a journalism degree from Ryerson, intends to document his journey.

He says along the way he intends to find people, projects and NGO's that are having a positive impact within their communities.

The 25-year-old is also hoping to draw attention to social issues, especially in South America along the way.
