Sparkling Hill Resort is closing for 10 days after a member of staff tested positive for COVID-19.

The luxury resort announced its immediate closure in a media release Oct. 30.

The resort says for the continued safety of its guests, staff and vendors, it's taking a "proactive and precautionary approach" and closing its doors. Sparkling Hill will reopen Nov. 9.

Sparkling Hill says the staff member contracted COVID-19 outside of the Resort and started self-isolating immediately. Interior Health confirmed the positive COVID-19 case to the resort Oct. 30.

"Due to the extensive COVID-19 plan in place at the Resort, Interior Health confirmed there is no concern for any guests that stayed recently," the release says.

Staff members that may have come into contact with the affected person have been identified and contacted by Interior Health.

"The health and safety of our staff, guests and community are a top priority. While the closure is not required by Interior Health, the immediate actions taken are to ensure there is no further spread of the virus," the release says.
