Sparkles, science and smiles at art festival

Making miniature lanterns as an introduction into what can be done for the Lumiere Lantern Parade in November.

KAMLOOPS - The Children's Art Festival filled Riverside Park with a lot of kids, a lot of art and a lot of mess Saturday.

With more than two dozen stations and artists filling the bandshell area of the park, hundreds of kids braved the afternoon heat to learn, create and explore.

Art stations, for kids of all ages, offered opportunities to explore clayworks, painting, face painting, jewellery making and dress up. The stage area featured theatre and dance productions throughout the event. Big Little Science Centre also offered a few hands-on experiments, while hula hoops offered an energy outlet right next door.
