KEREMEOS - A car crash on Highway 3 west of Osoyoos has resulted in a third fatality on the region's roads this week.

RCMP South Okanagan Traffic Services media relations officer Cpl. Mike Halskov said in a statement issued today, Nov. 21, police and emergency service personnel were called to the scene of a head-on collision on Highway 3 near Nighthawk Road around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19.

Police determined a westbound Ford F-350 pickup crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an eastbound Acura driven by a South Okanagan man in his 50s, who was killed and pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in either vehicle, Halskov said, and the pickup driver was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

He says alcohol has not been ruled out as a factor in the collision, and road conditions were bare and dry at the time with light traffic.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call South Okanagan Traffic Services in Keremeos at 250-499-2250.
