Some heat to end the week in the Okanagan

Today and tomorrow should be great days for late summer activities, but a cooldown is expected on Saturday.

There are at least a couple more days of summer left in the Okanagan.

Today and tomorrow should provide great opportunities to enjoy another two days of summery conditions before a change brings a taste of fall to the valley this weekend.

Although there is lots of sunshine in the forecast, temperatures are expected to drop considerably by Saturday, with some cool days heading into next week.

Environment Canada says to expect sunny conditions today, Aug. 27, with a high of 27 Celsius and a low of 11 C overnight. Winds are expected to become northwest 20 km/h this afternoon.

Tomorrow is even better, with sunny skies, a high of 29 C  in Vernon and Kelowna, 30 C in Penticton, with a low of 12 C expected in all three cities.

Things are going to cool off for the weekend, however, with a high of only 20 C on Saturday under a mix of sun and cloud, and mainly sunny on Sunday with a high of 22 C.

Overnight lows on the weekend are expected to be in the single digits at 7 C on Saturday  and 8 C on Sunday.

The start of the should see a mix of sun and cloud Monday with a high of 22 C and a low of 10 C.

On Tuesday, there is a 60 per cent chance of showers along with a high of 24 C and a low of 12 C.

There’s another 60 per cent chance of showers predicted for Wednesday with a high of 23 C expected.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 24 C and lows of 10 C.
