Some activities to get you out of the wildfire smoke in Kamloops

The smoky haze in Kamloops on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018.

KAMLOOPS - Are you bothered by the wildfire smoke lingering over the city? Tourism Kamloops wants you to know you can still have fun, despite the smoky conditions.

Environment Canada has put out air quality statements advising the public to avoid strenuous activities outside, which means you might be stuck indoors more than usual.

This past weekend, the Kamloops North Shore Business Improvement Association was forced to cancel their Overlanders Day celebrations because of the heavy smoke conditions around the city.

But there are still ways to enjoy your time around Kamloops without putting your lungs at risk, according to Tourism Kamloops.

Check out the city's Big Little Science Centre, enjoy a movie at the Cineplex theatre or head down to the Kamloops Museum which also has a separate floor for their children's museum.

For those looking for more active indoor activities, Tourism Kamloops suggests Cliffside Climbing Gym for indoor rock climbing, or you can head to Jump 360 Trampoline Park to jump in a sea of trampolines.

The list provided by Tourism Kamloops also suggests indoor swimming, bowling, escape rooms, art galleries and more.
