BARCELONA, Spain - Barcelona says Lionel Messi has a leg injury that will keep him from playing in the preseason friendly against Hamburg on Tuesday.

The Spanish club says the Argentina forward hurt his right leg in practice on Monday and will sit out the game at the German team's stadium. Barcelona says Messi's response to treatment will determine how long he is sidelined.

Barcelona's next preseason match is at Moroccan club Raja on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Messi has largely avoided injuries during the past four seasons, winning three Ballon d'Ors and helping the Catalan club to 14 trophies in that period.
