TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. - Search-and-rescue crews in northeastern British Columbia have found two snowmobilers who got stuck in deep powder and spent a night outdoors.
RCMP Cont. Lesley Smith says the men left the community of Tumbler Ridge Friday morning and headed to the Corelodge area, which is popular with snowmobilers.
But when the men didn't return home by 9 p.m., she says police were notified.
Smith says search-and-rescue officials from Tumbler Ridge, Fort St. John and Prince George were called in, and with the help of a helicopter they found the men by Saturday afternoon.
She says the men were in good health and were not injured.
Smith says the snowmobilers had gone over a ridge, became stuck in deep powder and couldn't leave the area, even on foot, so they built a fire and kept warm until help arrived.
