VERNON – It was a scary 4 hours for a woman separated from her family and friends while snowmobiling in the bush east of Enderby Saturday night.

Volunteers from Vernon Search and Rescue got the call at 5:30 p.m. and the hunt began.

“She had become separated from her group” in the Hunter’s Range area according to search manager Pete Wise. It’s a popular snowmobiling area with trail heads off Mabel Lake Road.

Along with the 15 members of Search and Rescue, other snowmobilers in the area at the time helped with the search.

The woman was found at about 9:30 p.m. safe and sound.

Officials were ready to pull out all the stops in the hunt for the missing woman. Shuswap Search and Rescue had been called, but the team stood down when the missing woman was found.

A plane from the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association was on standby to launch Sunday morning if the snowmobiler was still missing.
