Snowflurries, moderate temperatures forecast for Kamloops

There are snow flurries in the Kamloops forecast, but no major amounts expected between now and New Year’s day.

Environment Canada meteorologist Mike MacDonald says a front crossing the coast could bring light snow to the city tonight, but no major systems are forecast for the Okanagan.

"There's a chance of flurries on several days, but that's about it," he says.

Kamloops residents can expect the mix of sun and cloud over the city this morning will give way to a 60 per cent chance of flurries late this afternoon.

Winds should become east at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 this morning, with a high to 0 Celsius and a windchill in the -13 C range.

Tonight should see a 70 per cent chance of flurries with east winds at 20 km/h, gusting to 40, becoming light after midnight. Tonight’s low should reach -4 C with a windchill near -8 C.

Saturday, expect to see periods of snow with a high of -1 C and an overnight low of -2 C.

Sunday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of -1 C and a low of -2 C.

There is a 30 per cent chance of snow flurries on Monday with a high of 0 And a low of -3 C.

Tuesday, New Years Eve, is expected to be cloudy with a high of 2 C and a low of -1 C.

New Year’s day is expected to be cloudy with a high of 2 C.

Kamloops’ normal high and low for this time of year is -1 C and -7 C.
