Snowfall warnings are in effect in the Southern Interior where up to 25 centimetres is in the forecast.
Highway 1 is expected to get 15 to 25 cm from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass between tonight and the morning of March 14, according to Environment Canada.
“As the cold front pushes through Monday overnight, the snow will briefly intensify. In the wake of the cold front early Tuesday morning, skies may clear, resulting in the potential for rain or snow to freeze to surfaces,” the warning says.
Highway 3, from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, is also expected to get 15 to 25 cm over the same time frame.
“A frontal system will bring rain and snow to the Columbias and Kootenays beginning tonight. As the warm front approaches, snow levels will rise to near 1300 metres.”
A nowfall warning has also been issued for the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt, where 10 to 20 cm will fall starting late this afternoon until Tuesday morning.
