The snowfall warning issued for Kamloops and the Okanagan yesterday, Nov. 6, continues through this afternoon with another 5 cm of snow possible and 10 cm in some of the mountain passes.

“A Pacific low pressure system southwest of Vancouver Island continues to spread moisture into the southern interior this morning,” the Environment Canada warning says. “The snow will ease this afternoon as the low moves further south.”

As the system moves, winds are expected to gust up to 60 km/h in Kamloops, 50 km/h in parts of the Okanagan. That brings a wind chill of -17 Celsius in Kamloops this afternoon and -10 C in the Okanagan.

Kamloops is expecting a high of only -5 C today, dropping to -7 by Tuesday. Overnight lows are expected to drop to -13 C overnight Tuesday and Wednesday.

Normal high temperatures for this time of year in Kamloops are in the range of 6 C with overnight lows of -1 C.

For the Okanagan, high temperatures are expected to rise to about 0 C today before dropping to -6 C on Tuesday. Overnight lows are expected to drop to -12 C overnight Wednesday.

Normal high temperatures are around 5 C in the Okanagan with overnight lows of -2 C for this time of year.

Skies are expected to clear after the low pressure system moves off with sunshine forecast for Wednesday through Friday.

A mix of sun and cloud and temperatures around the freezing level are in the forecast for next weekend.
