Smoke haze and warm weather this week in Kamloops

The smoky haze is back in Kamloops today, Aug. 14, 2017.

KAMLOOPS - After some rain and cool temperatures on the weekend, and a very noticable lack of wildfire smoke, Kamloops returns to smoky, dry conditions this week.

Environment Canada says after some cooler, below normal temperatures to begin the week but by Wednesday, Kamloops will likely return to the usual hot, sunny summer weather.

The forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud today, Aug. 14, with a high of 22 Celsius. Smoke from the B.C. wildfires has returned after a reprieve on the weekend. Expect a few clouds overnight with widespread smoke and a low of 11 C.

Tomorrow will be warmer with a high of 26 C, along with a mix of sun and cloud, and widespread smoke. The wind will become east at 20 km/h in the afternoon. The sky will clear overnight with a low of 11 C.

Environment Canada predicts sunshine and hot temperatures for the rest of the week, with a high of 28 C on Wednesday, 29 C on Thursday and 26 C on Friday.

Forecasters are calling for more sun for the weekend with highs around 28 C.

Normal temperatures this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 28 C and lows of 13 C.
