UPDATE: Smoke forces customers out of Jysk in Kelowna

KELOWNA - The smell of smoke inside a Kelowna Jysk forced the evacuation of the entire building this afternoon.

There was a large response to the call this afternoon. Platoon Captain Tim Light says that's because the Jysk is located inside the mall, which could lead to a serious problem if there were a fire.

However, it was actually an isolated rooftop unit that had failed and sent smoke through the airducts. Light says a mechanic will have to look at it.

A Jysk employee told us the staff were let back into the building at around 3:40 p.m.
