An ice cream parlour in downtown Penticton was broken into overnight.

Tickleberry’s, which opened its downtown location in February 2021, had stock stolen after a brick smashed through one of its glass doors overnight.

"Definitely a frustrating, sad night," owner Kelsey Hoy said in an email.  "Somehow a break-in feels so personal and invasive of your happy place."

The shop will be open today, Nov. 24, but the amount of inventory is currently unknown.

After evaluating the damage in the middle of the night, Hoy couldn't stay for too long because she had three children at home.

She said it's the third break-in at the downtown location in 2022.

"Everything caught on camera, every time," she said. "No follow-up, no concern from police – it’s a very hard place to be in."

Hoy shared the news on Tickleberry's Facebook page.

“Another break-in in Penticton. Another theft under $5,000,” reads the post.

Just a block away, another ice cream parlour was robbed in Penticton in August last year. An elderly woman was struck with a hammer during the robbery. The culprits have not been caught.

A message left with the Penticton RCMP for more information on the Tickleberry's robbery was not returned before publication.
