Small Westside forest fire likely human caused

KELOWNA - A small forest fire off the Bear Creek Main Forest Service Road is now guarded and under control.

The fire was spotted yesterday afternoon, April 22, and attended by one response officer, Hannah Swift, a fire information officer at the Kamloops Fire Centre told iNFOnews.ca.

The fires is about three kilometres up the road. There are no buildings nearby.

“It was only 10 metres by 10 metres,” Swift said. “We put water on it and it’s under control.”

A three-person crew worked to contain the fire today.

The cause is not yet officially determined but it’s suspected to be human caused, she said.
