The fresh snow created big problems for commuters making the trip from West Kelowna to Kelowna over the Bennett Bridge this morning.
RCMP say it was "mayhem" at around 8:30 a.m. today, Jan. 10, with numerous vehicles stuck on Highway 97 in both directions on the hill on the westside of the lake.
“The recent snow has prevented vehicles from getting up the hill while causing vehicles to slide down the hill just west of the William Bennett Bridge,” states an RCMP media release.
“The Kelowna RCMP want to urge stranded drivers to remain in their vehicles to maintain their safety. First responders are on scene trying to assist those that are stuck while sand trucks and snowplows deploy to the area.”
A DriveBC webcam with a view of the hill did not show any congestion as of 9:52 a.m.
