PENTICTON - Penticton residents are reporting a furry stranger in the city this weekend.

Two sightings of a black bear were reported on Sunday on the Wildlife Alert Reporting Program web page, in addition to several postings on social media.

Gordon Place resident Collen Naef posted a photo she took from her front door of a black bear — looking not all that out of place — sauntering down the street around 5 p.m., Sunday, April 28. Gordon Place is located off Pineview Road in the city’s south end.

The bear may have been on a mission to see as much of the city as possible. A black bear was spotted in the vicinity of the 100 block of Main Street, in the north end of the city around 6:40 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the WildSafeBC web page.

The Wildlife Alert Reporting Program website shows two black bear sightings at either end of the city yesterday, April 28, 2019.
