A Sicamous man has been arrested for firearms and drug trafficking.

Jesse Pat Lyle has been arrested on nine charges after a months-long investigation, according to a Canada Border Services Agency press release issued today Dec. 27.

The agency launched an investigation after three courier packages with illegal contents addressed to Lyle were seized at Vancouver International Airport on April 6.

After an investigation, the agency and RCMP searched Lyle’s car and boat on June 4. Officers seized a gun with an obliterated serial number, two magazines, an illegal spring-loaded baton, an illegal stun gun and trafficking amounts of drugs.

Lyle has a lifetime ban on owning any gun or restricted weapon.

“The safety and security of Canadians is our top priority. We are taking action at the border to stop illegal firearms and drugs from reaching our communities. This seizure is a great example of the ongoing cooperation between the Canada Border Services Agency and local law enforcement agencies,” public safety minister David McGuinty said in the release.

Lyle has been arrested and charged with three different firearm possession offences, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, and four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Officers searched Lyle’s vehicles and seized evidence in June, but he wasn’t charged until Nov. 28. He's set to appear in court in Salmon Arm on Jan. 7, 2025.
