KAMLOOPS -  The Sagebrush Theatre in Kamloops has been temporarily closed due to a fault in the roof.

The City of Kamloops and Western Canada Theatre sent out a press release announcing the immediate closure of Kamloops' 685-seat theatre, for "urgently-needed building repairs."

"During a routine technical setup, a serious structural issue was discovered in the roof of the audience chamber that requires immediate attention," the release says. "Engineers are investigating and we do not yet have a timeline for the resolution of this situation."

Ticket holders are asked to refrain from contacting the box office until after the theatre sends correspondence regarding alternate arrangements for Sagebrush Theatre events.

The Western Canada Theatre’s production of "Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story" will be presented at the Coast Kamloops Conference Centre’s Theatre. Dates now run from Feb. 19, to Feb. 27. There may also be shows on Friday, Mar 1, and Saturday, Mar 2, but the theatre says they will confirm as soon as possible.

The release says the production will be done with the full set, lighting and performers.

For those who have bought tickets in which the date or time has not been changed, seat numbers will be reassigned automatically to duplicate the originals as best as possible. The new tickeets will be available at the door. Those with particular seating concerns, can contact the Box Office at 250-374-5483. This past January a Kamloops philanthropist donated land for a new performing arts centre to be installed. It was brought to Kamloops city council with unprecidented support.
