SALMON ARM - Police in Salmon Arm are investigating an incident of shots fired in the city.

Salmon Arm RCMP Sgt. Scott West says in a news release that unknown suspects discharged a firearm at an apartment unit early this morning, Feb. 28, at approximately 2:30 a.m.

Police were called to a building on First Avenue SW. Upon arrival, officers confirmed multiple shots had been fired at an apartment unit, West says.

"Shots hit the outside wall and through a window," West says. "Nobody was injured in the incident."

Two people were witnessed leaving the scene in a light-coloured compact car. Investigators have spoken to a man who was believed to have been the intended target, West says.

Police believe this is a targeted shooting related to the local drug trade.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044 or call Crime Stoppers at 1 800-222-8477.
