Shots fired in Kamloops leads to heavy police presence

FILE PHOTO

People were yelling and driving vehicles around a Kamloops parking lot when witnesses reported gunshots in a Dallas industrial area last night.

Kamloops RCMP showed up to the 200-block of Andover Crescent around 10:30 p.m. yesterday, July 19, but no one was injured in the area.

There was "evidence of gunshots" in the area, according to an RCMP news release, but police did not specify whether there were casings or bullet holes in the area.

“At the time of the incident, a number of vehicles were reported in the area. We are hopeful someone saw something involving those vehicles that may help us further the investigation into what transpired and those who are responsible," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

The serious crime unit, police dogs and a forensic team are working on the ongoing investigation.

“Police are reaching out to anyone who saw anything before or around the time of the reported shots, as well as anyone who has video footage available to please contact police,” Evelyn said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-24922.
