UPDATE: Shoeless suspect smashes door of Vernon business

A shoeless suspect smashed the door of a Vernon business before driving off early Saturday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m. May 2, Ebenezer's, located on 29th Avenue reported that a man drove up to the store, smashed the door with a golf club and drove off, all without wearing shoes. A video was posted to the business's Facebook page of the incident.

Owner Kelly Nanda said the suspect may be tied to another vandalism incident that happened at Swan Lake Motors’ early Saturday morning, as the business reported a similar incident with a similar-looking suspect on its Facebook page. The car dealership's windows were also smashed.

Nanda reported the incident to the police.

The cost to replace the door may be up to $1,000, Nanda said.

"The incidents are still under investigation as we determine what criminal charges can be substantiated," said Tania Finn, Vernon RCMP communications officer.
