CALGARY - Shaw Communications Inc. is reporting improved profit and revenue for its first quarter, beating analyst estimates
The Calgary-based company (TSX:SJR.B) reports it had $245 million of net income, or 51 cents per share, in the quarter ended Nov. 30.
That's up from $235 million or 50 cents per share a year earlier and two cents above analyst estimates.
Shaw's revenue was also up, rising by 3.3 per cent to $1.362 billion, from $1.32 billion a year earlier.
Analysts were looking for 49 cents per share of adjusted earnings with $1.358 billion of revenue, according to Thomson Reuters estimates.
