Man wanted in Toronto sex crime going back to 1999 arrested in B.C.

PENTICTON, B.C. - A 51-year-old man wanted in Toronto on sex charges dating back 13 years has been arrested in Penticton, B.C.

Police say Edward Melvin Ellis had been living in the Penticton area under an assumed name for about nine 9 years.

Ellis was charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement and assault causing bodily harm in crimes in Toronto going back to 1999.

The RCMP say the Toronto police recently got a tip Ellis was living in Penticton and when the Mounties tracked him down and arrested him he admitted he's been looking over his shoulder for 13 years, wondering if the police would catch up with him.

Arrangements are being made to return him to Toronto.
