Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for Okanagan and Boundary

Residents of the Okanagan and Boundary could be in for some stormy weather today as a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the two regions.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable today, June 24,  for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong winds, hail and heavy rain.

The severe thunderstorm watch was issued for the Okanagan and Boundary region including the North, Central and South Okanagan.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for development of thunderstorms, the watch states. Lightning can kill and cause injuries. When thunder roars, go indoors.

Environment Canada alerts and forecasts can be monitored here.
