The weather office is tracking a severe thunderstorm this afternoon in the Central Okanagan capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to a nickel size hail and heavy rain.
The storm is currently in the areas of Highway 33 near Mcculloch, Big White Ski Resort and Graystokes Provincial Park today, Aug. 12.
Environment Canada said “when thunder roars go indoors” as lightening kills and injures Canadians every year.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are producing or are likely to produce large hail, damaging winds, or torrential rainfall.
For the latest on the severe thunderstorm warning go to Environment Canada’s public weather alert web page here.
