Severe thundershowers set for Okanagan Valley, South Thompson

OKANAGAN VALLEY - If you're heading outside today, you'd better pack an umbrella.

Environment Canada is reporting that severe thunderstorms are likely to develop in southern B.C. on May 25, affecting residents in the Okanagan Valley, South Thompson, Nicola, and Boundary.

A low-pressure system is expected to produce heavy rain mixed with scattered thunderstorms today, resulting in five to 10 millimeters of rain across the region. Heavy downpours could produce localized rainfall amounts of 15 millimeters.

Showers with the risk of thunder will continue into the evening and they're expected to taper off around midnight.

Updates on the storm can be found here.
