Pickleball Depot is not just a store; it's a thriving hub for enthusiasts of a sport sweeping across Canada. Founded in 2012 by Bryan Banerd, with his daughter Cara Arding taking over in 2014, the company started its journey by selling equipment online. Arding made the shift to open the first brick-and-mortar retail outlet in Vernon, BC in 2017. And what began as a modest 200-square-foot retail space attached to a warehouse has now blossomed into a booming business drawing traffic from the Okanagan, Alberta, Vancouver, and beyond. The selection and service at the Pickleball Depot has put Vernon on the map as a destination for pickleball players.

In June 2023, they expanded once again in a new Vernon location with 3,000 square feet of warehouse and almost 1,000 square feet of retail space.
"We have a hundred and twenty-five paddles on the wall to make sure there's a perfect paddle for every level of player," Arding says.
There's also an in-store "Demo Alley" that allows you to try out paddles before you buy, so you'll be sure to get the one that's just right for you. Pickleball Depot is also one of BC's largest court footwear providers.
"We've got more court shoes than almost anywhere else in BC, carrying all the major brands with over thirty different shoe styles and models for pickleball, tennis, squash, and badminton," Arding adds.
And if all this pickleball talk gives you the urge to jump on the court, but you don't have any equipment—no problem; Pickleball Depot offers a complete rental service for everything you need to give it a try.
Pickleball Depot gives back, too. They proudly serve as the title sponsor for the highly anticipated "Rally In The Valley" tournament, held in Vernon, BC at the Marshall Fields’ OWA Pickleball Complex from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2023. This second annual event will bring together close to 300 players from across BC.
"Pickleball offers something for everyone," Arding says. "Whether you’re looking to have some fun, exercise, and be social on the court or if you're looking to be involved in a competitive fast-paced sport you’ll find it all in pickleball.”

Check out the Grand Opening of Pickleball Depot's new Vernon shop and warehouse at 5107 25 Ave on Thursday August 31. The entire store will be discounted. There will be some great door crashers and tons of in-store specials, as well as refreshments for shoppers, with special hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular store hours are Mon-Fri 9-4 p.m.
