Serious injuries after truck hits motorcycle near Salmon Arm

SALMON ARM – RCMP are investigating a serious crash between a truck and a motorcycle near Salmon Arm that landed three people in hospital.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries, according to RCMP release.

Police were called to a crash on the Trans Canada Highway at the Balmoral Road interchange on July 21.

A truck travelling southbound was crossing the Trans Canada Highway at Balmoral Road as a black motorcycle was heading westbound, according to police. Investigators say the truck pulled across he highway right into the path of the motorcycle.

The 46-year-old Edmonton man driving the motorcycle and passenger, a 37-year-old woman, were taken to Kamloops and Vernon hospitals with serious injuries.

The 75-year-old woman from Blind Bay who was driving the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Her passenger was not hurt.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and police are considering charges against the driver of the truck.
