Serious collision closes Trans Canada at Highway 5 in Kamloops

A vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 5 and the Trans Canada highway will slow traffic on the west side of Kamloops this afternoon.

Kamloops RCMP say in a media releae it is a "serious" collision and are asking the public to avoid the area this afternoon, Aug. 19.

The Trans Canada Highway is closed in both directions for about two kilometres from Abbey Road into west Kamloops and emergency vehicles are currently on the scene, according to DriveBC.

An assessment is in progress and there is no detour available. There also isn't an estimated time of reopening.

Drivers are advised to watch for traffic control.

Updates can be found on the DriveBC website here.
