KAMLOOPS - The second Big Barriere Block Party is taking place next month, and artists from Kamloops will be there to entertain.

In a news release, organizers say this year's party, hosted by the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre, will be held on June 10. Admission is by donation.

"Our goal is to make this an event that everyone can enjoy regardless of your income, the release says.

Organizers say Barriere's new "Splashpad" will be opening at 3 p.m. that day and advise guests to come prepared with bathing suits and sunscreen.

The outdoor marketplace is looking to nearly double in size compared to last year with close to 70 booths signed up, according to the release. Vendors will include artisans, wood workers, small businesses and non profits.

Organizers say the entertainment lineup will include Barriere's Whiskey and Wine, Kamloops' Jeremy and Chloe, and the Bees and the Bare Bones.

Former Canadian Idol winner and country music artist Jaydee Bixby will be headlining the show as part of his cross-Canada tour.

There will also be an official after party held at the Royal Canadian Legion at 10 p.m. with rock band Days Ahead performing. There is a $5 cover for the after party.

The events will begin at 3 p.m. on June 10 at Fadear Park and go through to 9 p.m.
