REVELSTOKE - A 48-year-old Alberta man has been found tired and disoriented, but otherwise OK, after spending the night lost in southeastern B.C.

The Hinton man was separated from his group Sunday afternoon, Feb. 19, while snowmobiling on Boulder Mountain, a popular area for sledders, about five kilometres west of Revelstoke.

Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky says a search began at about 8:30 Sunday night and continued until 4:30 a.m.

Helicopters joined the search Monday morning and Boulder Mountain was closed to other sledders while rescue efforts were underway.

Grabinsky says the unnamed man, described as an experienced sledder, was able to sled down to a point to meet search and rescue members, and then rode with them to the base of the mountain.

Officials say the case is another reminder that those who venture into the backcountry must be prepared.
