Search underway for possible body in Columbia River in Revelstoke area

The search for a body in the Columbia River in the Revelstoke area has resumed today.

Revelstoke RCMP and B.C. Emergency Health Services received reports at around 6:40 p.m. yesterday, July 12, about a possible body seen floating downstream in the Columbia River near the Highway 1 bridge, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP launched its boat and called Revelstoke Search and Rescue volunteers to help. The search and rescue crew also launched a boat to help in the river search and a helicopter was deployed.

The search resumed today with the assistance of both RCMP and Search and Rescue helicopters.

If you witnessed something similar in nature and have not yet spoken to police, or you know of a loved one or a friend who is overdue you are urged to call the Revelstoke RCMP at 250-837-5255.
