A search party for missing Kamloops woman, Shannon White, is gathering tomorrow morning, Saturday May 28.

White has been missing since she failed to show up for a shift at her job at Kamloops Hyundai on Nov. 1, 2021. Her jeep was discovered abandoned on Nicola Street downtown the following day.

Police and Kamloops Search and Rescue crews did several searches in different areas of Kamloops for two weeks in November, and the case remains an ongoing police investigation.

It has been over six months since White disappeared, and friends, family and caring volunteers continue to hope and search for signs of her. A party of volunteers is heading out into a wooded area tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., according to a Facebook announcement.

“We pray every day for information that will bring her home,” White’s cousin Michelle Couture said. “We ask the public to please continue to share her story, circulate her picture, search for her, and pray for her. There is a hole in our family that cannot be filled until she is found. Please help bring our Shannon home.”

Everyone is welcome to join the search but the public is asked to confirm attendance ahead of time and sign waivers upon arrival for confidentiality purposes.

Search coordinators and volunteers are supplying bottles of water, Powerade, granola bars, safety vests and flagging tape.

Searchers are asked to come prepared for weather and outdoor conditions by dressing in layers, wearing proper shoes, preparing for possible ticks and wearing a hat. Bring any handheld radios, GPS, first aid supplies and metal detectors if you have one.

The search will be in the woods so there won’t be washrooms available.

Dogs are not invited unless they are trained for searching.

Volunteers are needed to help with organizing the volunteers and some who have experience in searches will help lead smaller groups, according to the event announcement.
